My name is Traci Bell. I have been proudly teaching at Booker Middle School for 14 years, 10 of which have been on the Gifted and Talented Academy. After graduating from Sarasota High School with Honors with a 4.16 GPA, I attended the University of Florida on a full-academic scholarship and majored in English Pre-Law; my concentrations were in Advance Writing and American Literature. Being an avid reader and accomplished essayist, allowed me to further pursue my love for learning by obtaining a M.S. in Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment K-12.
As an Educator, my goal is to help students become critical thinkers, readers and writers. This year, my students will learn how to closely read multiple texts and apply their understanding of vocabulary on a contextual level, interpret and integrate rhetorical structures in their writing, analyze literature critically and connect to a variety of themes as it relate to a social or political issue from a historical context. Since most of our students will pursue an Advance Placement Program at one of our local high schools, I will teach them how to effectively conduct research using the Modern Language Association method for citing and documenting their sources.
